Pillow Power {Take Two}: The Bow-Chica-Bow-Wow Bedroom Makeover

I know we talked about my new pillow covers recently.....but after living with them for a few days, I decided the chartreuse color needed context. So I cringed and carefully held one of Aybee's (stinky hairy doggy) lime-rind green pillows over the bed, to see if that color would ease the eye into the bright chartreuse. It ended up being worth the sacrifice -- lime-rind was the answer!

I scoured my home, looking for a quick fix....I didn't really want to go on a fabric and / or pillow scavenger hunt (again). And then I spied....

I'd been hanging onto this sweater because I loved the color, but never wore it because it just didn't fit right anymore. I stuffed the pillow inside the sweater and buttoned it up, to test the plan that was slowly formulating in my brain.

All signs seemed to be pointing to "Go for it!" So, I started pinning roughly around the sweater, to mark where the seams would need to go.

I removed the pillow, turned the sweater inside out -- keeping the sweater buttoned up -- and got to sewing.

My little project burglar showed up, and provided some cheap laughs and entertainment for a few minutes. Ahhh, that dog....{shakes head}

Once I had sewn a rectangle, I trimmed off the excess sweater-ness.

I unbuttoned the sweater and flipped in outside in (or rather, the opposite of inside out).

And then I stuffed my pillow inside!

Ta da!! A sweater pillow!

The touch of lime was just what the doctor ordered. I am still amazed at the before and after....and it was so simple and easy!

Cheers!!
