The Tree of Life...Spray Painted GOLD! {squee!}

I've made another small update to our master bedroom. If you missed the big makeover, you can check out the before / after reveal here.

So, on this fine day, I tackled the empty space above the bed with the....

We were wandering the new Kirkland's in Vacaville, and found "it."

It was the curves that sucked me in. Brian and I decided we wanted to avoid putting something circular above the bed, since our light fixture is already round. But, in order to offset the hard lines of our board and batten wall treatment, curves were a must! And for $19.99, this piece fit the bill and the budget.

The finish is kind of a mix of oil-rubbed bronze and copper -- which Alison of 5 years ago would have loved. But Alison of Present Day wanted gold. "Gold????" Brian asked incredulously. "I'm sure it'll look great, but I don't understand it." Such a supportive man.

I picked up a can of matte-finish gold spray paint and got to work.

I scuffed the piece up with sandpaper first and applied several coats of paint.

And then on the wall it went!

Cheers!
